Find

Use
STORY
COMPASS©
to stimulate creativity and explore uncommon, unpredictable combinations
of fiction elements that can be used to create distinctive and
interesting stories.
Using STORY
COMPASS©,
a writer can work with any or all of the elements of fiction--plot,
character, setting, theme.
Get
on track . . .
To
begin working an idea or to get a story idea, you write with the
included erasable marker in the different sections, then spin
up interesting combinations. If a story isn't going well, you
can re-spin ideas for any element. The frustrating thing that
happens when a new story (even the most different, interesting
idea) starts to come together, it often becomes predictable and
starts to sag. Creating unusual combinations helps you to get
a different perspective, a new "what if" that is unexpected,
unpredictable.
